San Francisco and Cape Town are two cities known for being inclusive and embracing diversity. Programs at UCSF and University of Cape Town both provide services for children and adolescents along WPATH guidelines, but to different populations, with different levels of resources, operating in different socio-political environments. This talk looks at the similarities and differences in what the two programs provide and what each can perhaps learn from the
other.  A case of a South African young person will be presented, with a comparison of how
each of the programs would approach care for this youth.
